I love Video Games. I can't remember when I started playing them but they have always been apart of my life. I especially love the Legend of Zelda Series. It has a great balance of puzzle solving and action. As a kid I would draw maps and dungeons, and would try to think about how I would make a Zelda game of my own. My passion for playing games slowly turned into a passion for wanting to learn how to do it myself. My parents noticed this and got me Interplay's Learn to Program Basic for christmas when I was ten. That was my was how I started programming.
The first game I made was a simple text adventure that brought the user through a series of events with choices to make in between each one that would determine if you stayed alive or met with a game over. Over the next few years as I went through middle school I made other projects and submitted them to the Georgia State Technology Fair. Each time, except for the last, I got first place in the County Division and went on to state and placed. The first time I placed third, the next year second, and then I finally got First place; all with games I made in middle school. As a high-schooler, I placed second place in the county category. I even made a prototype for a 2d platforming game utilizing DirectX for my High School Senior project.
After High school, I went on to Full Sail University to find a proper education in Game Development. There I went through an accelerated program that would give me a Bachelor Degree of Computer Science in the span of under two years. Working 40 hours a week in school, and some more out of school for homework, I learned the fundamentals of Game Development as the Industry practices it. It was a hard two years, but arguably my most fun. This is where I developed Ace of Space, my five month final project, and my Zelda game that I have posted under my portfolio.
As Full Sail University used to advertise themselves, I got real world experience not only developing games with the same tools the Game Industry uses but also working with teams. I am now a great programer with experience using C++ and C#, Objet Oriented Patterns and Design Paradigms, DirectX 9, OpenGL, meta-data tool development, and experience working on a team; I was the Project Lead for Ace of Space.
I love games and I have a passion for Game Development. It's shaped me into who I am today. I am now out of school and actively searching for a job as a developer. Currently I'm teaching myself Objective-C and working on a game for the iPhone platform. So please, look at what I have posted on this Website. I'm proud of what I've accomplished and I'm sure there is fun to be had playing what I've made.
So please check out what I've done. I would love to hear what you think about my project or this website: please e-mail me
